LOKI'S WOLVES by K. L. Armstrong and M. A. Marr is a
delightful tale of mythology, coming of age, and magic!
Blackwell is a place where the long decedents of Thor and
Loki live. Throughout this excellently written story we
follow the adventures of Matthew Thorson and Fen and
Laurie Brekke as they take on their destiny and try to
save the world.
Matthew Thorson is a decedent of Thor, and has just been
named the Champion of Thor. We follow Matt as he figures
out what that entails, and how he is supposed to go about
changing his destiny. Matt's first quest is to locate the
other champions then collect the items he needs to fight
the Midgard Serpent and stop Ragnarök, the end of the
world.
LOKI'S WOLVES is by far one of the most entertaining and
enlightening tales I have read in quite a while. Armstong
and Marr have done such a wonderful job intertwining
mythology into this story that any young reader will
learn a great deal as well as have a delightful tale
running through their minds. LOKI'S WOLVES is a story for
the ages, it is one that many a generation could enjoy
and learn a lot from. It is a great story and I really
cannot wait for the next.
"The runes have spoken. We have our champion...Matthew
Thorsen."
Matt hears the words, but he can't
believe
them. He's Thor's representative? Destined to fight
trolls,
monstrous wolves and giant serpents...or the world ends?
He's only thirteen.
While Matt knew he was a
modern-day descendent of Thor, he's always lived a normal
kid's life. In fact, most people in the small town of
Blackwell, South Dakota, are direct descendants of either
Thor or Loki, including Matt's classmates Fen and Laurie
Brekke. No big deal.
But now Ragnarok is coming,
and
it's up to the champions to fight in the place of the
long-dead gods. Matt, Laurie, and Fen's lives will never
be
the same as they race to put together an unstoppable team,
find Thor's hammer and shield, and prevent the end of the
world.
