Mist always believed she was a Valkyrie so discovering she is the daughter of Freya and a powerful God herself has caused her many problems. Mist is so driven to save humanity and Loki is only driven by his selfish greed as is Freya. There is no doubt that you will root for them to win in the second book of the series, Midgard. Though BLACK ICE is the second book it can be read as a standalone, but you might enjoy getting more background by reading the first. There should be many more great stories to come in the series by Susan Kinard.
