Peyton Adams has decided to go stay with her best friend
so
she can work on finishing her most recent screen play.
Payton has been tortured by visions of a man murdering
women; it causes her headaches and black-outs, she is
hoping the visit to the wilderness will help her. Peyton
is
afraid one day she will never come back from her black-
outs.
Upon arriving at her friend's house Peyton see her best
friend's brother Cole. Shocked and upset she tries to play
off seeing her former fiancé. Things did not end well
between them.
Cole is happy to see Peyton he has been thinking hard
about
things between them and wants to make it right. Only
something is wrong with her and she won't tell him.
As the visions worsen and the end draws nearer for Payton
can Cole help her to survive the attacks on her mind and
body before it is too late.
Peyton is a great character that has a new talent that may
killer her and you have to appreciate her dealing with.
Cole's sister and her husband are also good characters and
play an important role in the story. Cole on the other
hand
comes off as quite a jerk at first. His half-ass excuse
for
breaking things off makes you want to kick in the soft
spots. He does however make up for it in the end.
It's an interesting group of people with an intriguing
story line. My problems with this story is the author
tends
to jump forward a bit too much and suddenly, leaving holes
in the story. Cole well as I've mentioned, is not the man
you'd fall over. And it is never explained why Peyton was
target to begin with, no I saw you and decided I would
ruin
your life or other creepy thing.
Susan JP Owens has a great idea with THE BEGINNING COMES
QUIETLY, and potential for many more intriguing stories.
I
just hope she decided to make them a little longer and
gives herself more room to explore the backgrounds of the
characters and reasons for the plot. There were some
seriously steamy scenes in THE BEGINNING COMES QUIETLY.
I'm intrigued to see what
Susan JP Owens writes in her next story and look forward
to
reading it.
Peyton Adams has two secrets. One, she's plagued by
visions
of gruesome slayings, yet is helpless to save the victims.
Two, she's still in love with her ex-fiancé, even though
he
broke her heart.
Little does defense attorney, Cole MacLeod, know when he
accepts a serial killer case that it will turn into a
chase
of life and death for the one woman who still holds his
heart. Although he hurt Peyton years ago, he never stopped
loving her.
Now, a dangerous adversary is toying with Peyton's mind.
Ultimately her thoughts are being controlled, and she
experiences the excruciating torture of each victim. With
every murder, the deranged maniac gains strength and
taunts
Peyton about her inevitable death.
Can Cole erase the pain he caused and claim the woman he
loves. Or, will a madman end Peyton’s life before he has
the
chance to figure out how the psychopath is wielding this
gruesome power and prevent him from claiming anymore
lives,
including the love of his life?
