Historical
Camilla was married at fifteen to a man she didn't love
and
lived the life of a dutiful and faithful wife for seven
years. She watched as he behaved in unspeakable ways
knowing that to ask her father for a divorce from him
would
embarrass the family and she would be locked away for the
rest of her life.
Camilla was ok living quietly and away from her husband,
being separate from him even when together. She spent most
of her time living in the villa she loved. Until one day
she saw a man diving from the cliff. Camilla then went out
every day to watch him until one day due to shocking
events
she meets him and her life is never the same.
Now she must fight the feeling she has for him because she
sees no way out of her marriage. As their love grows her
husband becomes dangerous and she becomes a liability.
Marcus and Camilla have a beautiful and touching love
story
surrounded by danger, and old Roma intrigue. Reading about
life back then and the backstabbing ways politics work,
feels like reading about modern politics without showers
and cars, its fascinating. The lifestyle and treatment of
women is accurate in the historical ways we know
occurred back then. Carolyn Hart is accurate and writes a
wonderful story with CLIFF'S EDGE that keeps you guessing
how it will end right up to the last page.
SUMMARY
From bestselling author Carolyn Hart! Married at fifteen to a man chosen by her father, Camilla
has long since resigned herself to the role of dutiful and
respectable wife. Hers is a loveless union, however; her
husband, Decimus, has no interest in Camilla beyond the
money, possessions, and social station she provides him.
And then Camilla meets the good and gentle Marcus Julius
Paulus and learns for the first time what it means to be
cherished by a man. Despite her feelings for Marcus, Camilla would rather give
up her true love and lasting happiness than bring scandal
on her family. But when she learns of ambitious Decimus’s
despicable plan to gain favor with the emperor Caligula,
Camilla knows she must free herself from her husband’s
clutches. Now she has become a liability and Decimus is determined
to rid himself of the wife he has never loved without
giving up either her money or family connections.
