Every once in awhile you read a book that was nothing like you imagined it would be. When you finish that last chapter, you are left sitting there saying WOW! This was exactly that book for me. I absolutely loved it. Saying too much about the story line, will take away from the reading experience and give away its secrets.
The story is a little confusing in the beginning since it jumps right in with Naomi Carradine in the Fairfax Psychiatric hospital for the last month.. When Naomi meets her new doctor, Dr Rutledge, she begins to tell her story. The story that led her up to the day she was admitted into Fairfax.
It isn't until we get the back story, do we learn about how and why Naomi is in her current situation. The story is told from Naomi's point of view and during her sessions with Dr Rutledge. Each session is a flashback into Naomi's past that takes the reader back to when Naomi meets those she cares for most in her life, her best friend Lana, Lachlan, and Max.
It is only when the past catches up to the present do we start to see the story unfold. All the while, the reader is wondering is Naomi really is crazy or not. And just when you think you have the ending figured out...Wham! Its steam rolls over you! I must say, that I certainly didn't see it ending the way it did.
Calia Read's Unravel is certainly a book that needs to be on everyone's reading list. It is considered new adult romance, but this isn't your typical romance. Calia Read's writing style flows beautifully throughout the entire book, that reader can not begin to see what the next page will bring. Calia Read is a new author for me, and I am curious as to what she will be doing with this, and since I could not put this book down, it certainly won't be my last.
