Fantasy | Fantasy Urban | Science Fiction

Sandman Slim aka James Stark is at it again. James is half- human, half-angel and all attitude. James is a man who has told both the devil and God to their faces where to put it.

Now as a new evil descends upon the city of L.A. Stark is forced once again to use his charming whit, mad skills and fast thinking to save the world. Stark, who was the acting devil down in hell for a while, will now put all of his abilities to the test trying to stop the battle of the Gods from beyond. These Gods were banished by our God himself when he created us.

Unfortunately Stark has his work cut out for him. Not only is an evil force trying to enter our realm, but God himself is fractured and fighting among the fractured parts. The killer St. Nick is back and he may be the only person who can help Stark put an end to the madness, if only he wasn't the one person Stark hates the most and would love to kill again.

James Stark's Sandman Slim, is one of the best characters ever created. He is a smart mouthed, fast thinking, hard loving bad ass, who will do whatever he has to do to keep him and those he cares about alive and safe, if he saves the world in the process, so be it.

Sandman Slim is a character you can't help but love and fear for the day his story ends. He will say or do anything; one of his closest friends is the disembodied head of a man he killed when he got back from hell the first time. Sitting down with a Sandman Slim novel is like eating all you want and not gaining an ounce. He is deliciously crazy.

THE GETAWAY GOD is another great addition to the Sandman Slim series and ties up many of the ongoing problems facing James and his friends. I have faith though that Richard Kadrey can think up more messes for James to get into because the poor guy just can't get a break.

Read THE GEATAWAY GOD and you will love it but pick up the first five books and read them, your behind the great book curve if you're just starting now.

SUMMARY

End times are here again

A half-human, half-angel with a bad rep and a worse attitude—we are talking abuout the former Lucifer here—James Stark, aka Sandman Slim, has made a few enemies. None, though, are as fearsome as the vindictive Angra Om Ya—the insatiable, destructive old gods. But their imminent invasion is just one of Stark's problems, as L.A. descends into chaos, and a new evil stalks the city.

No ordinary killer, the man known as St. Nick takes Stark deep into a conspiracy that stretches from Earth to Heaven and Hell. Further complicating matters is that he may be the only person alive who knows how to keep the world from going extinct. He's also Stark's worst enemy—the only man in existence Stark would enjoy killing twice—and one with a direct line to the voracious, ancient gods.
