There are two very different creatures out at night. One, Tanya is the last of her line the Ykrall, and the source of a prophecy. Tanya has lived her life in hiding feeding carefully off of those she has sex with. Tanya has never taken a human life and the idea makes her sick.
The other is an ancient vampire named Janos Wolkran. Janos lives his life taking humans as servants feeding other humans to them. These humans are killed. Though his servant's live long lives, their lives are totally connected to and dependant on their master Janos and human life means nothing to them.
Tanya and Janos have never run into each other before until now. Janos decided he wanted Tanya's girlfriend, Katherine, for one of his human servants. Janos has now made an enemy he did not know even existed. Now the battle is on to save Katherine and it takes them around the world in a fight that will lead to the death of one of them.
HOT BLOOD is a fantasy with a slight horror twist and a little romance. HOT BLOOD is a new twist on an age old story. I really enjoyed this twisted manner in which Tony Richards tells the story of vampires and Ykrall. It appears this is a standalone and a good break from the same old same old. The two species are both strong and each has a set of powers and weaknesses that lead to interesting fights. There is a strong set of characters that help Tanya out and surprises along the way.
HOT BLOOD by Tony Richards tells us a story different from the way it's normally done and makes it enjoyable. Revenge is sweet and someone must pay for taking what was not theirs to play with.
