She wakes up in a strange room. She doesn't know where
she is. She doesn't know WHO she is. There is an
unknown man lying asleep on the bed next to her. Her
only thought is to escape. As she tries to creep to the
door, he wakes up, and asks her what she's doing. She in
turn, asks him who he is. He appears very surprised by
this, and informs her that he is Augustus Malvern,
Viscount Eastleigh. The two of them were in an accident
yesterday, and she suffered a blow to the head. He all
but carried her to this inn, and settled her in a room.
He asks her what she remembers, and all she knows is that
her name is Sarah Marks.
Lord Eastleigh is a former soldier, and ironically, he
suffered injuries that caused him amnesia. He knows to
tread carefully with Sarah, and to let her remember
things in her own time, without trying to force them. He
suggests that she travel to his home with him until such
time as she begins to regain her memories. He tells her
that his own physician, who deals with amnesiacs is
there, and may be able to help her. Sarah remembers
enough to know that a lady doesn't reside at an unknown
gentleman's house without a chaperone, so she refuses.
Eastleigh inquires where he might take her then, since
she has no memory. With no other option available, Sarah
agrees, and they set off for his home, where his
grandmother resides, and can act as chaperone.
Eastleigh's grandmother is slightly batty, and believes
her daughter to be queen, so she's known as the queen
mum. She's a delightful character.
As Sarah settles in, she and Eastleigh begin to develop a
strong attraction for each other. Just as they begin to
get close, Sarah has a shocking revelation. Without
giving spoilers, little pieces of her memory come back,
and she and Eastleigh set out to find her family and her
past. Eastleigh is a wonderful man. He's patient with
the wounded Sarah, he understands because he's suffered
the same malady. Sarah is a little harder to judge,
since she is almost a blank slate. I actually found her
more likeable when she had no memories. As they
returned, so did her fears and anxieties, causing her act
somewhat witchy.
This book is very well written and the author did a
terrific job of adding some twists to the story that
definitely surprise. THE SEDUCTION OF SARAH MARKS will
keep you guessing and entertained. I recommend this
book, and look forward to reading the upcoming books in
Those Magnificent Malverns series.

inadvisable attraction grows - until Sarah finally
