Jet Baron, who's a good-hearted guy, tends to spend more time at the rodeo than in the office. Well, his family's awash with Texas oil money so why not? Only, his father and sister think he should be pulling his weight in the firm. So when Jet doesn't realise that they've hired a stunning female engineer, that's his problem. I chuckled at the start of THE TEXAN'S TWINS as Jet makes traditional male assumptions which are every bit typical of the old- time energy industry. This is the twenty-first century, and Jet had better come to terms with the fact that JC Marks, although a female, can lick him hollow when it comes to getting oil out of the ground.
Jasmine Marks, still in her twenties, somehow managed to fit in healthy twins and her life as a single mother is consequently busy - too busy for socialising. Lizzie Baron, Jet's sister, is hands-on at the oil firm and that was how Jasmine got hired. She's determined to prove herself, and is not above dropping the name of her wildcatter father to sway opinion. Jet may be distractingly good-looking, but there's no room in her life for a boyfriend just now. Amazingly though, Jet starts showing up at the Dallas office more often, serious, diligent about checking figures and inquiring into Jasmine's personal life.
There's a smashing helicopter ride, since Jet's a pilot, and lots of practical details about running Baron Energies. There's also a family-friendly rodeo serving the best peach pie in Texas. Motherhood brings responsibility however and Lizzie has to put her girls' health before her own heart. This exciting and varied story is an adult romance - despite the fact that a work relationship is unethical. Can they get their lives back on track or must the fling end in tears?
Pamela Britton has written many previous novels and won awards, and she's a columnist for American Quarter Horse Journal, which explains why her horse details are so good. If you haven't tried her work before, pick up THE TEXAN'S TWINS and get acquainted. You're in for a treat.
