Lady Thief

Young Adult | Fantasy

Now that everyone knows who Scarlet truly is, she has to be more careful than ever with Gisbourne still on her trail. When he comes to her with a dangerous, but irresistible offer, she will have to work with him in order to get what she desires most. LADY THIEF by A.C. Gaughen is a phenomenal follow up to the first novel in the Scarlet series. Gaughen takes such interesting twists with the Robin Hood tales and weaves them into something full of excitement and romance. Just as there was danger in the first book, this one takes on a whole new level of danger, especially when Prince John gets involved. I love all the secrets with the royal court, and I definitely didn't see many of them coming. What I love most is Robin and Scarlet. Though I wasn't a big fan of the love triangle in Scarlet, the first book, LADY THIEF doesn't have one. Instead, Robin and Scarlet, particularly Robin, are both still recovering from the ordeals they faced previously. While Robin is especially haunted by events that happened in book 1, Scarlet is facing one of her biggest fears during this one. Her bravery and her penchant for never giving up will astound you the whole way through the story. The stolen kisses she gets with Robin are extra swoony, and I love how well they mesh as a couple, even with everything against them. All in all, A.C. Gaughen has written another incredible story with LADY THIEF. The amount of heart-quickening action combined with the heart-fluttering romance is a combination you don't want to miss, especially if you enjoy re-tellings. I can't wait to see what happens next with Scarlet, Robin, and the gang.

SUMMARY

Scarlet’s true identity has been revealed, but her future is uncertain. Her forced marriage to Lord Gisbourne threatens Robin and Scarlet’s love, and as the royal court descends upon Nottingham for the appointment of a new Sheriff, the people of Nottingham hope that Prince John will appoint their beloved Robin Hood. But Prince John has different plans for Nottingham that revolve around a fateful secret from Scarlet’s past even she isn’t yet aware of. Forced to participate at court alongside her ruthless husband, Scarlet must bide her time and act the part of a noblewoman—a worthy sacrifice if it means helping Robin’s cause and a chance at a future with the man she loves. With a fresh line of intrigue and as much passion as ever, the next chapter in Scarlet’s tale will have readers talking once again.
