Romance Paranormal
Jennifer Flagg is part of a messed up blended family that
keep her on her toes. She has ability to talk to the dead
that her family discreetly refers to as "that thing you do
with dead people." In MEDIUM RARE: DEAD MAN TALKING Jennifer
accidently
walks into a crime scene and finds the body of a rather
attractive dead man who needs her help to move on.
In order
to help him she gets involved with the investigation of the
murder. Too bad her on again off again boyfriend is the
detective in charge of the case and her brother is the
Chief of Police. All they want is for her to stay out of it
but she can't do that. If a dead person needs her help then
she feels driven to help them. Her boyfriend and brother
aren't the only ones who want her out of the investigation;
the killer wants her out of it too, bad enough that someone
takes a shot at her. Now everyone is driven to find out who
the killer is before Jennifer becomes the next victim.
Jennifer Flagg is a great character; she is funny, driven
and slightly messed up. Jennifer and her boyfriend, Dan
Prince have been best friends and dating on and off since
high school. You will love the way they work together and
the stupid things they do to each other. Jennifer has a
great supporting cast in her family and the people of the
small town.
The plot is based on a believable series of
crimes and brings attention to a very important subject.
Michelle Witvliet does a great job balancing funny and
serious in MEDIUM RARE: DEAD MAN TALKING and I look forward
to her writing many more in this series. MEDIUM RARE: DEAD
MAN TALKING is a great urban fantasy.
SUMMARY
Jennifer Flagg has never considered herself more than a
mediocre medium. Even her crazy blended family thinks her
ability to talk to the recently deceased is nothing more
than an annoying quirk. When she's drawn to the scene of a
murder, Jen quickly discovers the business of talking to the
dead is a whole lot more complicated when there's a body
still attached. Her detective boyfriend wants her to stay out of police
business. The dead guy wants her to help find his killer.
And all the murderer wants is to put Jennifer permanently
out of business. Can an amateur sleuth find a happy medium between her
suddenly changing paranormal world and her unstable personal
life? The spirits on the other side might have the answers,
but wouldn't you know it, they're the only ones not telling
her what to do.
