Romance Contemporary

Gladie Burger moved to California to help her grandmother run the family matchmaking business. When Launda Laughing- Eagle comes to town the trouble begins. Launda is claiming to be a psychic and is trying to take all of grandma Zelda and Gladie's clients away. Gladie will stop at nothing to prove that Launda is a fraud in order to save the family business. Soon Gladie is stumbling over a dead body in the woods. She knows that she will have to solve this mystery as well as exposing Launda as a fraud. As if that isn't enough for her to handle, throw in three really hot guys all trying to catch Gladie's eye. This book is the third book in Elise Sax's Matchmaker Series. I highly suggest that you read the first two books before this one. It will give you a better understanding of the relationship between Gladie and Spencer. With that being said, I didn't really like this one as much as the first two. Yes, you have romance, mystery, and a crazy grandmother, but it just did not do it for me this time. The plot is great and the character development is spot on. I don't think that there is a single character that I did not like. I just could not get hooked like I did with the first two books in the series. I was about three- fourths of the way through before I could really get into the book. If you love the Stephanie Plum novels by Janet Evanovich then you will like LOVE GAME by Elise Sax, as they are very much alike. I normally love the humor that goes into this series. I also think that there is a time and place for it, and certain parts of the book did not need to be as funny as they turned out to be. All in all, LOVE GAME is a good read for a lazy Sunday.

SUMMARY

Five months have passed since Gladie Burger came to Cannes, California, to join her eccentric Grandma Zelda in the family matchmaking business, and Gladie is quickly mastering the rules of attraction. Her latest fix-up is still going strong and Gladie’s bank account is back in the black—until a rival matchmaker arrives in town and has both Gladie and Zelda seeing red. Not only is self-proclaimed psychic Luanda Laughing-Eagle stealing Grandma Zelda’s clients, but Zelda is convinced that Luanda’s ESP is total BS. She tasks Gladie with exposing Luanda as a fraud, but Gladie’s attention is diverted when murder comes a-calling. Spencer Bolton, the gorgeous chief of police and Gladie’s on-again, off-again flame, wants her to stay out of the investigation—and away from the deliciously chiseled detective who also aims to win Gladie’s heart. But the one thing Gladie’s learned is that in business, love and murder . . . it’s always personal.
