This SF story is in a series called Double T Agency, which hinges around a newly discovered gene for time travel. In the 24th century when boys are found to have this ability, they are removed from society for training. A TIMELESS SEDUCTION follows Kyle Tasso, one such agent, during his work for the time agency.

Kyle is a historian who goes back in time to plant recording devices, then returns to remove them for the future - sometimes devastating events have occurred but he is not allowed to interfere. I found the concept of men dying as they turn thirty, and all their immediate ancestors dying too, confusing until it was made clear that because the gene for time travel is so recessive, each man has to be secretly his own grandfather in order for him to be born. Why he dies at thirty if he hasn't achieved this feat I still don't know.

The style is extremely readable and doesn't blind us with science. What's more, Kyle is back in time acting as an archaeology field worker, and guess what, it's common knowledge that the professor in charge is free with his favours, grad students in need of good marks preferred. Some things never change. Peter Flynn isn't the kind of guy Kyle gets along with, while Peter's lovely fiancée Lily has brushed rumours aside for years. Poor Lily, also a professor, has crippling agoraphobia, and Peter doesn't scruple to tell others that he only wants her for her connections. Kyle is suddenly determined to meet Lily, and even if he can't tell her what her sneaky partner is up to, he can perhaps have an affair with a woman he desires, instead of one relating to his past.

A TIMELESS SEDUCTION becomes more complicated with another woman - Lily's cousin and best friend - entering the picture, while Kyle and Lily get to know each other and feel a genuine attraction with mutual interests. There are good tips for helping someone to overcome agoraphobic panic attacks. I thought that for a novella length, there was some padding as the characters rehash what has been happening to that point. I would have liked to see more of Kyle's time- jumping work instead. The author Rainey Daye has sensibly put the gritty details relating to time jumping at the back of the book, so they don't slow down the story. If you want a lively, fun erotic romance, try A TIMELESS SEDUCTION. The best news is, there's an earlier book in the Doublte T Agency series to read as well.
