Sarah Grayson has just started a combination used furniture/ thrift store called Second Chance. She is doing well selling re-purposed items. Her favorite acquisition is a cat she has named Elvis. Elvis lead a hard life as evidenced by the scar across his nose, but he fits right in at Second Chance. Elvis is very popular with her customers, except for one customer he just doesn't like. Arthur Fenety brought in some items to sell and later called to get them back. Elvis didn't like Arthur at all, and Sarah wasn't impressed with him either. There was something about him that just didn't ring true.
When Arthur is found dead in Mabel Harrington's back yard, everyone is ready to believe Mabel killed him, except for Sarah. Sarah sets out to prove her innocence. What Sarah learns will put her in danger. With Elvis by her side, Sarah will identify the real killer and stop the town of North Harbor, Maine in its tracks.
Sofie Ryan has a successful series with the Mystery Cats, and The Second Chance Cat series is likely to be just as successful. Elvis is a charmer, and Sofie Ryan has chosen a perfect sidekick for him in Sarah. Personable and ready to defend the right, Sarah makes a great friend. I really enjoyed THE WHOLE CAT AND CABOODLE. There are just enough twists and turns to the story so that the reader is kept guessing about the killer's identity.
Sarah Grayson is the happy proprietor of Second Chance, a
charming shop in the oceanfront town of North Harbor, Maine.
At the shop, she sells used items that she has lovingly
refurbished and repurposed. But her favorite pet project so
far has been adopting a stray cat she names Elvis.
Elvis has seen nine livesβand then some. The big black cat
with a scar across his nose turned up at a local bar when
the band was playing the King of Rock and Rollβs music and
hopped in Sarahβs truck. Since then, heβs been her constant
companion and the furry favorite of everyone who comes into
the store.
But when Sarahβs elderly friend Maddie is found with the
body of a dead man in her garden, the kindly old lady
becomes the prime suspect in the murder. Even Sarahβs old
high school flame, investigator Nick Elliot, seems convinced
that Maddie was up to no good. So itβs up to Sarah and Elvis
to clear her friendβs name and make sure the real murderer
doesnβt get a second chance
