Detective Ren La Fleet and his partner Daniel Beers are searching for a serial killer in Dallas, Texas. They are both detectives in the Dallas police department and they along with the other members of their section are in search of the person killing well known and public figures whose beliefs are not in sync with those of the Catholic Church.
Those outspoken people are being killed and positioned as Jesus was sacrificed on the cross. During the course of their investigation it is discovered that not only have people died in this manner all over the Dallas/Fort Worth area, but also on an international level. Now the local police have a serious problem and a killer that is murdering at a very rapid rate.
There is a leak in the department and the media is getting out of hand, internal affairs get involved and the problems are stacking up for La Fleet and Beers. It looks as if someone very close to the investigating team may be the killer. The murder must be stopped before he strikes again and the cost is going to be very large and life changing for everyone involved.
When I picked SENTINEL'S CHOICE to review I have to say my standards for it to be good were high. This author and I have a lot in common and I know I can't write so I wasn't expecting much from him. I have to say though I was pleasantly surprised. Michael E. Witzgall brings together a good group of characters and tells a story that keeps you guessing until the end. It is action packed and shows good detective work by a team of skilled investigators. I enjoyed SENTINEL'S CHOICE and am looking forward to the next book Witzgall puts out.
SENTIENL'S CHOICE is a great introduction to writing from Michael E. Witzgall, a thrilling cop story that you will enjoy.
As a member of the elite U.S. Marine Corps Force
Reconnaissance teams, Renee LaFleet learned hard lessons
about survival. This is where he met the brother of his
heart, Navy SEAL commander, Richard Shannon, under the harsh
conditions of hand to hand combat. But nothing he
experienced in Iraq prepared him for the evil he would face
as a homicide detective in Dallas, Texas. At least in battle
you know the enemy. When bodies start turning up all
murdered in the same manner, Ren is confronted with the
unthinkable possibility that his best friend, Father Richard
Shannon might be involved. Ren must decide where the bonds
of brotherhood end and his duty as a Texas Peace officer
starts.
