Imperial Princess Celeste knows the only marriage she can
have is a political one, but when she meets her potential
betrothed, Prince Rayn, she knows what she really wants is
passion and love. Prince Rayn, though sorely needing
political advantage, has no desire to marry a princess of
Kjall, whose previous ruler murdered a member of his own
family, but Celeste is sweeter, prettier, and more
intelligent than he ever thought, and he may not be able to
resist. With political plots and assassination attempts
surrounding them, they will have to team up to save both
their countries and take the risk of actually falling in
love.
PRINCE'S FIRE by Amy Raby is an addictive read full of
fantasy, romance, and political intrigue. Raby creates an
extremely interesting world full of fire mages and
assassins, and the detail about the kingdoms is fabulous. I
haven't read the previous two novels in the series, but it
was easy to figure everything out in this book as far as
background goes. I would recommend reading the other two
first to get a deeper feel of the world and learn more about
some of the secondary characters to make this book even more
enjoyable.
I love the romance between Celeste and Rayn. It is
surrounded by incredible political movements since they are
both royalty, and I love how they both care so much for
their people and doing a good job at their role. They
balance each other wonderfully. Often in romance like this,
you get a bad, playboy male interest, and while that is
perfectly fine, I really like how Rayn isn't like that. He's
no saint, and neither is Celeste, but they are wonderfully
both kind of normal in that area in the sense that they have
pasts that do still affect them, but they don't let it rule
them.
PRINCE'S FIRE is a wonderful adult fantasy romance novel,
and I absolutely love Amy Raby's style of writing. I am
definitely going to read more of her work, and I hope to see
more books set in this world.
