This romantic suspense story starts in a perilous situation; a man is walking through an office building shooting people. This spree killer wears body armour and the SWAT team that arrives needs to study the situation in case of a second shooter. Ashley Parrish, who has come to Tennessee for an auditing contract, tries to help other women while hiding and calling the emergency services. She just hopes they will act in time.
TENNESSEE TAKEDOWN pulls no punches as Dillon Grey works with his SWAT team to resolve the situation. Later, Ashley can answer few questions as she is a recent arrival in the firm. She drives off through the Smoky Mountains badly shaken. Her troubles are far from over however and only because Dillon decides to check on her does anyone know how badly matters have gone wrong. The pair of them end up on an island in a swollen river, during a storm, with at least two gunmen chasing them. They don't know why this is happening and have to depend on their wits and Dillon's local knowledge.
Dillon is a dependable, quick-thinking man, well trained in his demanding job, but at home he keeps rescue horses and trains them for adoptive owners. Ashley is a CPA who for no reason she knows, appears to be at the centre of this chaos. She can't help blushing when she thinks of Dillon, but there's no time to relax let alone get romantic, for the murderous pursuers are determined to capture - or kill - this Nashville native.
This is a fast-paced story with plenty of escapades and yet there is time for two people to discover love. TENNESSEE TAKEDOWN is an adult romance which probably breaks all the rules about police starting relationships with witnesses. In the end though they have to decide if a girl from the bustling city could live in a small town, or a guy from the Smokies could move to a city, or if there is anything in between to sustain a relationship. Author Lina Diaz has made sure that it's not all shots and punches; an element of depth in the characters improves the story. Her other works are also romantic suspense and they sound just as interesting.
