Rule Archer and Shaw Landon couldn't be more different. He is the ultimate bad boy with piercings and tattoos and she is a pre-med student, on the road to greatness. However, one thing binds them together -- Remy, Rule's twin brother and Shaw's former best friend.
Three years have passed since they buried Remy, but Shaw has held a flame for Rule ever since she set her eyes on him. His bad boy side appeals to her on a deeper level, yet Rule has never shown Shaw any emotion apart from annoyance. Quite frankly, I did not think Rule appreciated Shaw enough in the beginning. He was often rude and callous of her emotions, so at first I found it hard to see what she liked about him. However, like many New Adult titles, there are two sides to every story. Thankfully, readers also get a chance to read Rule's point of view. Rule doesn't often show his emotions, but when he does, I believe it's worth the read.
Jay Crownover's authorial voice nicely fits the New Adult genre. Uncomplicated but deeply thought provoking, Crownover takes two opposites and manages to pull off the impossible. As you can expect, the level of angst is high and provides the perfect amount of heartache and grief to round out the story. Fans of Katie McGarry's Dare You To will find much to love about this book. Jay Crownover spins a sexy tale of healing and growth that manages to keep readers riveted until the very last page.
Opposites in every way . . . except the one that mattersΒ Shaw Landon loved Rule Archer from the moment she laid eyes on him. Rule is everything a straight--A pre-med student like Shaw shouldnβt want--and the only person sheβs never tried to please. She isnβt afraid of his scary piercings and tattoos or his wild attitude. Though she knows that Rule is wrong for her, her heart just wonβt listen.
To a rebel like Rule Archer, Shaw Landon is a stuck-up, perfect princess-and his dead twin brotherβs girl. She lives by other peopleβs rules; he makes his own. He doesnβt have time for a good girl like Shaw-even if sheβs the only one who can see the person he truly is.
But a short skirt, too many birthday cocktails, and spilled secrets lead to a night neither can forget. Now, Shaw and Rule have to figure out how a girl like her and a guy like him are supposed to be together without destroying their love . . . or each other.
