In Lea Nolan's second installment of her HooDoo Apprentice series, ALLURE picks up right where Conjure left off.
Emma Gutherie is racing to learn the hoodoo magic since her twin Jack had come in contact with a flesh eating Creep Curse. Now she is apprenticing with Miss Delia to learn the correct spell to break the Beaumont Curse. The Beaumont Curse was an act of revenge by the same root worker, Sabine from Conjure. The men in the Beaumont family through the generations have been cursed to become horrible, gluttonous, soulless, men once they reach their sixteenth birthday.
As Cooper's sixteenth birthday inches ever closure, Emma notices that Cooper is becoming less like himself and wonders if the curse is starting early. Her efforts are further complicated when Cooper wants to spend more time with Taneea that he does with her or her twin, and Copper's best friend, Jack.
Desperate to save Cooper, Emma and Jack risk their lives to free Cooper of the curse and whatever black magic that has him allured before his sixteenth birthday.
I really enjoyed ALLURE. I didn't read book one, but that wasn't much of an issue, I was still able to follow along. There is plenty of reference included in this book to give the reader an idea of what happened in the first book. The ending of the books will certainly be a good start into a third book. For a new author, this series is full of promise! I highly recommend this series!
Worst. Summer. Ever. Emma Guthrie races to learn the hoodoo magic needed to break The Beaumont Curse before her marked boyfriend Cooper’s sixteenth birthday. Desperate to save him, Emma and her twin brother, Jack, risk their lives to uncover the source of the black magic that has allured Cooper and holds him in its grip. Faced with the horror of a soul-eating boohag, Emma and Jack must fight to resist its fiendish power to free Cooper long enough to join their strengths and face it together, before it destroys them all.
