Gladie Burger, a woman born for playing matchmaker is on
another quest to figure out who she can match up now in
this fun and mysterious novel. She has learned everything
from her Granny Zelda whose match-making service is being
stolen right underneath her by Luanda Laughing-Eagle, a
self-proclaimed psychic but Gladie knows that she is a
fraud and will stop at nothing to expose her. That is
until Gladie, her friends and Luanda are all kidnapped and
left for dead. Once free, Luanda claims to know everything
about the kidnapping, including where the kidnapper is
hiding out and Gladie can't wait to expose her for the liar
she is.
But when Gladie trips over her kidnapper's dead body in the
woods, it opens a new can of worms and Gladie knows that
saving her Granny's business will have to wait as she tries
to solve her kidnapper's murder. However, Luanda claims she
already knows who did it and if she does, the townspeople
may have a new match-maker to run to, leaving Gladie and
her Granny out of business for good. With determination on
her side Gladie will stop at nothing to track down her
kidnapper's killer and reveal him/her once and for all so
that she can prove that Luanda is a fraud. But is it too
late?
LOVE GAME is a fun, mystery book with a captivating
storyline. However, the writing was not particularly
enjoyable. There is a lot of humor in places that didn't
need it and it was less funny than I believe the writer
intended on. At times, it was very stop and go because it
seemed hard to understand what the writer was trying to
portray. However, I do give the plot a big thumbs up!
Five months have passed since Gladie Burger came to Cannes,
California, to join her eccentric Grandma Zelda in the
family matchmaking business, and Gladie is quickly mastering
the rules of attraction. Her latest fix-up is still going
strong and Gladie’s bank account is back in the black—until
a rival matchmaker arrives in town and has both Gladie and
Zelda seeing red.
Not only is self-proclaimed psychic Luanda Laughing-Eagle
stealing Grandma Zelda’s clients, but Zelda is convinced
that Luanda’s ESP is total BS. She tasks Gladie with
exposing Luanda as a fraud, but Gladie’s attention is
diverted when murder comes a-calling. Spencer Bolton, the
gorgeous chief of police and Gladie’s on-again, off-again
flame, wants her to stay out of the investigation—and away
from the deliciously chiseled detective who also aims to win
Gladie’s heart. But the one thing Gladie’s learned is that
in business, love and murder . . . it’s always personal.
