Throughout the Mercy Thompson series, readers have witnessed the constant growth of Mercy's character. She has endured so much, but has also found a family within the Columbia Basin wolf pack. In NIGHT BROKEN, Patricia Briggs makes Mercy's character all the more relatable by centering the book on something that could happen to any of us -- the return of the ex-wife.
Adam's ex-wife, Christy has caused problems for them before. However, when Mercy gets a phone call from a terrified Christy begging to come back home, Mercy's soft heart gives in. A powerful and psychotic ex-lover turned stalker is after Christy so it is up to the pack to keep her from harm's way. As fires and murders take place, Mercy soon realizes just how deep a problem this stalker is if he isn't stopped soon.
As if that wasn't enough, Mercy must somehow contact Coyote to retrieve the magical fae artifact called the Walking Stick for a Gray Lord named Alistar Beauclaire. With the extremely short time limit he has given her, it seems that Mercy has more to prove as a coyote shifter.
Patricia Briggs once again impresses with her paranormal world of supernaturals as she takes much of her inspiration from folklore. There is no doubt that readers will adore Brigg's attention to detail and tightly-written prose. She is always so readily able to create a lush backdrop for all of her books. Furthermore, the dynamics of the pack and their loyalty will be tested once again as trouble is aimed straight at the heart of the pack.
Mercy's character continues to grow as Briggs showcases her emotional and vulnerabilities. The intensity of the plot will test Mercy's character physically, emotionally as well as spiritually, creating for a stronger, multidimensional heroine.
With NIGHT BROKEN, Briggs takes her rightful place alongside Ilona Andrews, Nalini Singh, Karen Marie Moning and Jeaniene Frost, all of who create fiercely independent heroines that provide today's readers with positive role models. There is no doubt that Mercy Thompson is one of Urban Fantasy's favourite heroines.

something about the situation isn't right.

to
make it happen, including turning Adam's pack against

there's a more dangerous threat circling. Christy's
stalker
is more than a bad man,in fact, he may not be human at
