Hiding out with him in his isolated community, her past and
present is merging together and passions running anew amid
the danger. All she knows is she is falling in love with him
and has to find a way to save her mom. Having the
Kleptopsychs and Watchers both after her soul, it is a race
against time for Adrian to help her remember her past, get
her to control the full power of her unique soul and find
her mom who just may have the answers to all their
questions. With everyone having ulterior motives and not
knowing who to trust, it is up to them to stop the
apocalypse before it is upon them. Will they succeed before
someone betrays them to the enemy, hastening the end of the
world?
After reading about and loving Adrian in Soul Deep, I was
eagerly waiting for his story. He is an enigmatic character
who had my attention from the very beginning and I was
expecting his book to be darker and more compelling than the
last one. Unfortunately this is not the case. While the
story, passion and everything is there, it still falls short
of expectation. The twist in Emma's past and destiny along
with her mom is the highlight of the story though the climax
just did not meet up to it. The events and conversations
leading to the unravelling of the mystery of her soul and
other important events made this book pretty predictable
therefore lessening the overall effect. All the elements
that made an impact making Soul Deep a riveting and
satisfying read felt missing in SOUL CHASE. Nonetheless,
SOUL CHASE is a much awaited addition to the series however
if taken as a stand-alone novel it will be far more
enjoyable. I look forward to reading more about the last in
the Sacred Four souls and this fascinating world the writer
Anne Hope has created.
