Della Wright's weaving studio is barely breaking even but when a famous TV designer comes to her studio with the potential of a huge order, she is delighted. Jenny warns her away from taking but order can she afford to pass it up? Bunny Boyd has made a fortune with her TV show. Now, she has her heart set on her client, Bernard Whitby. She's taken a job for the richest man in North Carolina and set her sites on becoming his wife. Whitby is running for governor and a spouse is always a benefit in the political arena.

When Della stumbles across the body of a local coffee shop owner, the game is afoot. Especially when Jenny becomes a person of interest in the investigation. Through her friendship with Matthew, she is able to keep up with the what the police are doing but Della starts up her own inquiry.

Meanwhile, her friends are coaching Della on how to attract Matthew. Della has fallen hard for her dearest friend. Her flirtation skills leave a lot to be desired.

Ms. Martin's second mystery is as interesting as her first. The characters have strong bonds which keep the reader entertained and interested. Despite Jenny's belief in the occult which causes a lot of eye-rolling on Della's part, she appreciates her friendship. The mystery is sufficiently devious to keep everyone intrigued. Watching Della's attempts to flirt with Matthew keeps us amused as we navigate the maze of clues that Della encounters.
