Romance Suspense

Lacey Cross is a 28-year-old dental receptionist in Topeka, Kansas. She lives a very ordinary life: working, running and working out, sewing and socializing with her friends. After receiving a phone call at work that simply says "on the third day," her world is turned upside down when a Special Task Force, headed up by South African Operative Bronnik Mason, comes barging into her workplace and demands that she leave with them. They believe Lacey is the next target of a serial killer that Bronnik and his partner have chased from South Africa to England and now to America. Lloyd Hardy has killed four women, and Lacey is targeted to be his fifth victim. Bronnik is tasked with the job of keeping Lacey alive and capturing Hardy. Lacey doesn't take this threat seriously until she and Bronnik are shot at in the mall. A second encounter with Hardy almost gets Bronnik killed. Can Bronnik keep Lacey alive and take down this serial killer? Can he keep himself focused and his heart from falling in love? SECURE TARGET by Rebecca Crowley is a fast-paced, quick read that will have you turning pages to see where it is headed next. The South African police team up with the FBI and local law enforcement to capture this globe- trotting serial killer. It isn't fully indicated how all this law enforcement knows Lacey will be the next target, but storming into her workplace and taking her in protective custody makes this an exciting read. Lacey does not think of herself as a strong person, but Bronnik points out traits he feels indicate she does possess an inner strength. The plot takes a few unexpected twists and turns and has some very steamy romance, as well. Rebecca Crowley gives us a true thriller in more ways than one. This is the first book in her new series, Elite Operators. I'm looking forward to reading more.

SUMMARY

South African hostage rescue operative Bronnik Mason has been chasing a serial killer around the globe for over a year. Four women have already died, and he’s sworn there won’t be a fifth. Even if, this time, he has to offer up more than a few pints of his own blood. But when it comes to safeguarding the killer’s next target, Bronnik realizes this case could put his professional boundaries to the test. Having grown up in the shadow of two delinquent brothers, dental receptionist Lacey Cross is impeccably well-behaved, dutiful, hard working—and bored. Until Bronnik storms into the office to sweep her into protective custody. Suddenly, her nondescript life just got a lot more interesting.
