Fleeing on foot and afraid for her life, Princess Mercedes
of Alden finds herself in a situation that could only be
from a nightmare. Desperately looking for help, she
wanders into a small Scottish pub where no one believes her
tales of treacherous men and murder. Quite unfamiliar
with not being recognized as noble and dumbfounded at the
reaction to her story, Mercedes is somewhat in shock that
the pub owner has plans to turn her back out into
danger. Cold, confused and desperately needing help to
continue on her path to London, Mercedes' prayers are
answered as a strong man with memorable eyes bravely comes
to her aid.
Only fate would land Major Daniel MacKinnon in the
situation with the confused lass. Knowing his sense of
honor and duty would not let him turn his back on her, he
agrees to play along with her charade and accompany her to
her destination in London. Helping her would certainly
delay his long delayed trip home to the Scottish
Highlands. Despite every rational warning in his head,
he cannot seem to part ways with the beautiful, if not
confused, Mercedes; growing more fond of "Her Royal
Highness" every step of the way.
HER HIGHNESS AND THE HIGHLANDER is book two of the
Princess
Brides series.
is a seductive yet often charming read
about a young Princess Mercedes and the swoon worthy
Highlander, Daniel MacKinnon. The story is very well
written and is easily read as a stand alone book. As a
reader with a soft spot for the Scottish Highlands, I must
admit that the author left me feeling a bit charmed at the
conclusion of the book. The imagery of the Highland
landscape is very well written and Tracy Anne Warren
certainly
knows how to turn up the heat between the leading
characters! I will most certainly pick up the rest of the
series and look forward to reading more from this author.
From New York Times bestselling author Tracy Anne Warren
comes the second novel in an enchanting new trilogy about
three princesses brought together by friendship and fate.
This is Princess Mercedes’s story…
While journeying home from Scotland, Princess Mercedes of
Alden’s coach is set upon and her personal guard killed.
Barely escaping with her life, she seeks help at a nearby
inn. But with no money and looking little better than a
beggar, the townsfolk think her claims of being a princess
to be nothing more than a far-fetched tale. Utterly
forsaken, Mercedes wonders what is to become of her.
After years of soldiering, dispossessed Laird Daniel
MacKinnon is finally coming home. At an inn he is confronted
by a bedraggled young woman claiming to be of royal blood.
Daniel doesn’t believe her wild tale, but when she asks for
his protection, he agrees to serve as her bodyguard—in turn
she promises to reward him handsomely once they reach
London. But Mercedes is still being pursued by ruthless
hunters whose motives remain unclear.
As the danger increases, so does the desire she and Daniel
feel for each other, until the two of them must face the
greatest danger of all—falling in love.
