TORN is book two in the Billionaire Bachelors Club
series by
Monica Murphy. In this sexy installment, Gage Emerson finds
a
refreshing new conquest in Marina Knight. Marina is a sweet,
able-minded woman who doesn't allow Gage's good looks or
money to make her a fool. This time, it seems that the
billionaire stud is the one to make the first fumble when he
accidentally insults Marina's family name. Coming back to
apologize for his stupidity, Gage slathers on the charm,
hoping that it will reassure Marina that it was a sincere
mistake. But Marina doesn't quite trust the likes of Gage
Emerson and especially doesn't trust her own body as it
reacts to their combustible chemistry.
Though this is the second book in the series, I do believe
that this romance can work as a standalone. Murphy does
mention the previous couple in the series, however it isn't
necessary to read that in order to understand and appreciate
Marina and Gage's story.
Monica Murphy's writing is beautiful in its simplicity.
Emotions are laid out with effortless ease and the sex
scenes sizzle without the onslaught of too many frivolous
words. TORN is just one of those books that you just cruise
through.
Light on the angst, Murphy doesn't bother with such heavy
emotions in this one, but does explore the deeper insights
into her characters. Gage doesn't always understand what
drives Marina and I think that causes a wide gap between
them. As you read, Murphy lessens that divide until their
different personalities don't seem too dissimilar anymore. I
would have liked to see more scenes where they weren't
fighting in order to show just how well they match up at the
end.
TORN is sexy, flirty and sophisticated and is a wonderful
addition to the series.
