Romance Contemporary

What is a geotechnical engineer to do when the guy hitting on her is her sneaky boss? And her friend at work tries to set up a double date which includes said boss? Caroline Rossi is rescued from the bar full of Manhattan financiers by an old friend, but if truth were told, she'd rather not see him either, in UNEXPECTEDLY YOURS.

Josh Campbell is a handsome Ivy League man, way out of Caroline's orbit, but his idea of dinner turns out to be pizza from a local eatery and a chat with someone who he knows doesn't want anything from him. The two grew up near each other but haven't been connecting in years, and Caroline is surprised to find Josh isn't as snobby as she expected. There are serious issues between their families. However there were never problems between these two, and after food and wine they relax and start kissing, and end up in bed despite Josh's better judgement.

Josh develops real estate and it happens Caroline is able to advise him on a survey, which was carried out by a male engineer at her firm after she ignored the boss's advances once too often. She believes ground-penetrating radar and electromagnetic pulses should be used to see if there is anything deep under this site, but that hasn't been done. Is there a conflict of interest here? And if she stays with Josh, won't that create another one? Not to mention being socially presumptuous....

Caroline comes across as a bright girl who studied hard and didn't meet men she fancied. Now the lack of sexual experience makes it hard for her to start a relationship. The combination of familiarity and attraction are just right for her to make the break. Caroline says that she's a geek, of course she loves superheroes. Contrary to what you might see on 'The Big Bang Theory', really serious geeks prefer to discuss developing faster than light travel than to watch a superhero movie. Foreseeably her family find out about Josh which leads to amusing arguments, while Josh, who hasn't gone short of classy female company, has some serious thinking to do. I noticed the attitude of his father who asks if he'd seriously slept with an engineer, was he that desperate? Time the financiers got some shaking up methinks. UNEXPECTEDLY YOURS by Jeannie Moon shows a competent woman with a creative side who deserves to get her man.

SUMMARY

It was a win-win arrangement…until Caroline lost her heart…

Caroline Rossi needs to reinvent her life. Being a geotechnical engineer hasn’t exactly proved to be a guy magnet. She’s never really had the opportunity to let her hair down and have fun. But when a chance encounter with her big sister’s brother-in-law—millionaire Josh Campbell—leads to a night of unexpected passion, Caroline starts engineering an arrangement that will give them both what they want. She can help Josh with an important real estate project and he can school her in the art of amour.

At first Josh balks—but there’s something irresistible about Caroline, something very different from the bombshells he usually dates. Can the friends with benefits agreement really work? Or are Caroline and Josh playing a dangerous game that may end in heartbreak?
