The Battered Hearts series has been one of my favourite series of Kele Moon. Fusing together real emotion with hot sex is always a lethal combination. However, the third instalment of the series, CROSSING THE LINE surpassed the high expectations I had for this newest release.
Moon accomplishes the unthinkable. After much speculation about Wyatt Conner and Tabitha in the previous books, the author lays out all the details of their past in this consuming, passionate story. The book opens with Tabitha is a stressful situation. Dealing with her mother has always been one of Tabitha's life challenges. It doesn't help that her brother has always been an abusive pain in the ass for her as well. When she returns home after being gone for many, many years, Tabitha once again feels defeat as life's stresses weigh her down.
Wyatt, the former MMA fighter and sheriff of their hometown of Garnet finds her and this launches a series of flashbacks that retell their story from the very beginning. Moon starts at a very young age and shows their growth and progression of love through the years. It is really a stunning, beautifully written story packed with so much emotion, readers would have to have a heart of stone to not feel the passion pouring from these pages.
The parts from when they were younger have a New Adult feel to them. There's so much angst, so much violence and so much love that I think readers who adore this genre will also find a happy place with this book. Moon really outdid herself with this novel, making CROSSING THE LINE one of my favourite books this year!
