This paranormal mixes up the supernatural beings as wolves
and vampires and a bit of both hide out in the Arctic
Circle. The characters are Levi, Ian and Darius who have
already appeared in two books of the Tooth And Claw
series and by now are a unit. All three are vampires but
confusingly both Levi and Darius are also werewolves. If
they bite a person to feed the vampire, the person will
turn into a werewolf. The only hope is to find a willing
wolf shifter who will allow them to snack. I have to say I
started wondering if the wolf would turn into a vampire.
But I'm all in favour of giving characters challenges and I
wanted to see how long it would take before Ian was a wolf
too.
THE UNITED AND THE DIVIDED takes up straight after a
previous adventure so the guys are hiding in a boat
recovering from wounds and avoiding sunlight. The local
villagers on Sitka Island are all wolves and not pleased to
think they have vampire guests. However an elderly lady
who is respected intercedes for the trio and at least this
gives them a chance to explain their position. The
narrator changes between chapters which can be a little
confusing. Darius has been a vampire for half a century but
lately he's made a string of enemies, all wolves. With
difficulty they come to an understanding with the wolf
pack, but how long will it last?
THE UNITED AND THE DIVIDED includes drinking blood and an
ongoing strong, loving gay relationship between the three
vampire men. For adult readers only then, with strong
language, action, violence and the odd Molotov cocktail
just when you thought you could relax.
Where do you run when there’s nowhere left to go?
Tooth & Claw, Book 3
Levi, Darius and Ian are on the run, but Levi’s wolf clan is
the least of their problems. Levi’s now part vampire.
Darius, a vampire for the last half century, is now part
wolf. They have to feed on blood, but a bite will turn a
human to a wolf.
They’re left with only one option: find a group of wolves to
live amongst…which is a challenge when the wolves want them
dead.
Finally, on a remote island off the coast of Alaska, they
find a small community willing to let them stay, at least
for the time being. The decision isn’t unanimous, though.
Some are willing to destroy their own village to see them
gone, and only at great risk do the three convince the
townsfolk to lay down their Molotov cocktails.
Yet just as the trio begins to trust they’ve at last found
peace, one of the clan Elders learns that the island wolves
are harboring them. And he’s going to make sure Levi, Darius
and Ian fry under the deadly Alaskan sun.
Warning: Contains a vampire and two vampire-wolves who are
seriously over all this running around stuff. Also lots of
bullets and fur flying, but you’d better believe the boys
still find time to burn up the sheets.
