A three-way love interest is the focus of this adult book about rugged men and spirited women. Just how spirited, Christian and Tucker are about to discover, as the story opens with little Claire Mickelson taking out her ire on Tucker's pickup truck with a baseball bat. Tucker had been seeing the girl but then stood her up and spent the night with a casual pickup who bragged in the diner afterwards.

UNBROKEN introduces hardworking Wyoming rancher Tucker Langley and his best friend Christian Davis, who works on road crews. Tucker's fiancée was killed in a car crash, two years ago, and Christian has quite a thing for Tucker, who has no intention of getting it on with a guy. Christian also likes the ladies, and the two men relax by getting excited over porn together. It's no substitute for the real thing, of course. Christian reckons that Tucker's heart has never healed and he is scared of getting too close to any girl.

Plenty of men have wanted to put their boots under Claire's bed, but she's fussy. It seems strange then, that the man who let her down finds easy forgiveness when he approaches her at the diner where she works and asks to make love to her with Christian watching. Maybe Claire is just ready for some excitement. Or maybe she also fancies Christian... and a threesome.

Em Petrova writes red-hot cowboy romance, so her characters don't necessarily behave the way that everyday people would. However there are also serious issues. Tucker makes a regular visit to the family of his lost sweetheart and is gently told that they have put away her photo, and it's time for everyone to move on with life. A dispute arises about coal mining on the family ranch, with Tucker standing in the way of what he sees as environmental despoliation but others see as wealth and progress. When Tucker can't take any more stress and vanishes, Christian and Claire are left to care for horses, poultry, and an alpaca....

I did rather think that the main characters were having so much sex that they couldn't get any work done, but at least they were being careful. The end escalates into action and the gritty ladies of this county don't weaken with age. UNBROKEN by Em Petrova is a good long adult romance read.
