"A lost heir might be found on a Maine island"

Fresh Fiction Review

Temptation Bay

Romance Suspense

Windfall Island off the Maine coastline is the setting for this book about rugged islanders and their distrust of outsiders. Eking out a living from fishing and salvage, smuggling during the prohibition years and now tourism, the natives are fiercely independent. Maggie Solomon flies a helicopter and small plane in a business which brings visitors to TEMPTATION BAY.

Dexter Keegan, a Boston investigator, is sent to discover anything he can about the fate of a child who vanished eighty years ago, from a wealthy family. The Boston Stanhopes value discretion so he doesn't tell anyone exactly what his mission entails, instead chatting to shopkeepers and local historians. He's not the only one gaining attention however - Maggie's father is an Admiral in the Navy and he's running a political campaign, the only fly in the ointment being that Maggie is a civilian pilot instead of obeying him and joining the services. A few days later, Maggie is wondering just what the man she thinks is a lawyer is doing on the island. He hasn't had any meetings and must be running up billable hours and hotel time. She starts suspecting that her father has hired him for some reason - maybe to check out people.

When Dexter finally tells Maggie his quest, because she's the only one who can get her hands on some old journals, she doesn't know if helping him would be the right thing to do or if it could turn the lives of people she cares about upside down.

This is a slow-burn romance with the focus on well- described setting and intransigent characters, on the contrast between the city dweller and the fishermen. There's also tension, as the possibility of finding a lost heir brings jealousies out of the closet and attracts the notice of people with less than kind motivation. Anna Sullivan, who lives in Michigan, has continued the tale in the next book, called 'Hideaway Cove'. If TEMPTATION BAY suits you the next visit to Windfall Island sounds equally exciting.

SUMMARY

Anna Sullivan brings us the first book in her witty new contemporary romance series set off the coast of Maine. TEMPTATION NEVER TASTED SO SWEET . . .

Maggie Solomon has always been one of Windfall Island's favorite daughters. A beautiful, passionate charter pilot who loves this remote Maine island, Maggie has never cared much for outsiders-until her latest passenger arouses the curiosity of the town . . . and something hot and irresistible in Maggie. With his long, lean looks and razor- sharp wit, the man is temptation itself.

Cop-turned-PI Dexter Keegan is on a covert mission to solve the case that will make his career: uncovering the identity of the Stanhope heir, kidnapped nearly a century ago. No one on this fiercely protective island can know what he's doing, not even the spirited, blue-eyed beauty who infuriates-and excites-Dex. As the desire between them ignites, Maggie becomes the key to the case . . . and the target of an unknown enemy. Now Dex will do anything to protect the woman he's come to love-even risk his own life.
