"Predictable, but charming"

Young Adult Paranormal

Teenage violinist and now stepdaughter to a Scottish laird, Ivy Calhoun is not expecting to have the best school year. Not only is she moving schools, but she is also moving continents. After her mother remarried a Scottish laird, they set to move to a castle in Scotland. The castle is hauntingly beautiful, with, as Ivy soon discovers, emphasis on the haunting. When Ivy starts being attacked by ghosts, and possibly flirted with by a certain one, she knows there is a mystery that needs solved...before she is killed.

First off, the setting of this book was extremely well done. The author incorporated the Scottish accent as well as other subtle Scottish-isms well through the eyes of Ivy. I could picture the background to this story easily, and it may have been one of my favorite parts of FOREVERMORE.

Ivy is a violinist, and I loved her passion for the music. It gave strength to her character and proved an excellent way of bonding with the awfully cute teen ghost who plays the flute. While Ivy's romance with Logan, said ghost, wasn't surprising, it still had very adorable moments that I enjoyed reading.

I did enjoy FOREVERMORE, but I didn't love it. I guessed the plot from the first few chapters, and it went exactly as I expected. Ivy's friendships and relationships turned out again, as I had expected. It was predictable, and I would have liked more twists and turns.

Even so, I still liked this book. FOREVERMORE was light, it was fun, and it made an enjoyable read. I wouldn't recommend it to someone who craves action and a twisted plot, but if you're like me and you like the occasional light read for fun, I would highly recommend this one. Even being predictable, the story was still charming, and I'm glad I read it.

SUMMARY

On a misty cliffside, mystery and romance await. . . . Ivy Calhoun's life has been turned upside down. Her new stepdad has uprooted Ivy and her mom, bringing them to live in an actual castle in the misty Scottish countryside. There are stone-faced servants and shadowy corridors, and the ancient walls seem full of secrets. Ivy is at once frightened and intrigued. Especially when she meets Logan, a gorgeous, elusive ghost who has haunted the castle grounds for decades. Ivy is immediately drawn to him . . . but Logan is not the only spirit around. Something dark and deadly is afoot, and soon Ivy finds herself in mortal danger. Is Logan exactly what he seems? Could his mysterious past be tied to Ivy's present? And can Ivy stop herself from falling in love with him?
