Ione has been known for her worldbuilding talents and here
she creates a new world filled with supernatural vampires
but with a little twist. Ione's vampires are glorified to a
certain extent, but they are also widely feared by others
as well. Her vampires haven't always been high rulers but
slaves, showcasing a different hierarchy than what we are
used to with Paranormal Romance. Ione also draws on Native
American roots with her vampires, which we have generally
seen occur with werewolves or shifters.
Ione's writing style has stayed largely the same with the
familiar sarcastic quips and witty dialogue. The secondary
characters provide a wonderful support to the main
characters with several stepping up as possible leads in
the next book of the series. I'm interested to see where
Ione takes these characters next.
