THE RED ORDER begins shortly after the events of the first
book, The Order of the Seers. Liam and Alessandra are on
an extended honeymoon in Italy; and Joel and Lilli have
moved from the commune to a Seers facility in London's East
End, run by researcher Eli Tanning. This compound is both a
safe haven for the Seers, and a research laboratory
facility. Guild leader Crane Le Dieu has framed his own
scientist, Dr. Ming Jhu, for the escape of the Seers in
Chicago; and he and his Guild are running a public smear
campaign against the lost Seers. After narrowly evading
capture in Italy, Alessandra and Liam join the group in
London. Not only has Alessandra discovered some new
powers, Joel and Lilli have found that they are able to
communicate telepathically with one another, as well as
reading each other's thoughts and emotions.
Crane Le Dieu and the Guild have unveiled a new group of
Seers know as THE RED ORDER to combat and destroy the lost
Seers; fueling their allegiance with lies about the rogue
Seers, and the public perception that these Seers are
insane. Eli has plans to begin a Restoration Project, a
way to activate the psychic abilities of normal humans and
level the playing field between the Seers and the Guild.
This requires a lab trial in which regular humans will be
injected with a drug to enable them to access their dormant
seer capabilities. In the meantime, Liam chooses to fight
the Guild in his own way. He wants to access a world
renowned reporter to put out the Seers side of the story,
and let the world know of the evil machinations Le Dieu is
perpetuating on the Seers. This turns out to be a plan
fraught with dangers, but finally accomplished mostly to
their satisfaction. During this time, they have their first
confrontation with Red Order Seers, and the battle for the
new world order is begun. Liam and Alessandra have struck
discord in the beliefs of the Red Order team, however;
causing friction among the group that they hope to use to
their advantage. After their escape, an unimaginably
powerful and evil entity appears, threatening to disrupt
everything they have been working for.
THE RED ORDER is more than just the battle for the freedom
of the Seers. It's also about lies and double dealings;
alliances broken and new ones forged. Although not quite as
moving a read as Order of the Seers, this story does a
fine job of keeping reader interest and moving the overall
series plotline forward. The storyline jumps around a bit,
occasionally making it difficult to follow; as it was
obviously pulling together the threads for the deadly
confrontation to come in the next book of the series. This
is an interesting, appealing read in the paranormal genre;
and a different take on psychic abilities.
The Quest to Control the Power of the Seers Continues...
After successfully destroying the Guild's Purification
Center in Chicago, The Lost Seers, led by Joel Akida and
Lilli Knight, embark upon a world–wide mission to
save their kind from the tyranny of the Guild and unveil
their greatest weapon – The Restoration Project. Developed
in secret, The Restoration Project has the potential to
awaken the supernatural ability within every man, woman,
and child on earth and bring down the very foundation of
the Guild's power and authority.
But the Guild has other plans. Driven by the necessity
for control, Crane Le Dieu creates The Red Order, a new
league of clairvoyants whose sole purpose is to hunt down
and annihilate the Lost Seers. Without the Guild's
mind–controlling drugs, The Red Order is able to
develop its gifts far beyond the capacity to see the
future, honing their skills to become the ultimate threat
against the Lost Seers. But the question remains – will
the power of The Red Order be enough to defeat them?
