LOSING HOPE is the much anticipated sequel to the Hopeless
series. It is the retellings of events through Dean
Holder's eyes. However, it is not a simple rehashing of
familiar events. The opening scenes of LOSING HOPE have
never been seen before, offering a dark and heartbreaking
tone that transcends into the rest of the book. More new
scenes dot this book, including refreshingly funny scenes
from Daniel, Holder's best friend. Holder's POV is so
magnetic and irresistible that readers will find themselves
falling more deeply in love with his character. I didn't
think it was possible for me to love Dean Holder more than
I already do, but Hoover has created a one-of-a-kind
character that I will always remember.
Les, Holder's sister has always been both a source of light
and darkness in his life. Though she is gone, Hoover
maintains her presence through a series of letters that
Holder sends his sister. They incorporate his dark humor,
sarcasm and bitterness, resulting in a deeper insight into
the workings of Holder's mind. Readers experience his
grief, his heartbreak and his hopelessness, making LOSING
HOPE a riveting read!
However, when Holder meets Sky, he finds that his life is
slowly turning around. He enjoys his time with her and
though their ride to falling in love holds many obstacles,
they persevere together. This series has the most original
plot I've read in a long time. The secrets revealed are
hard-hitting and earth-shaking, creating for a story that
you will not forget.
Though Colleen Hoover's writing is simple, it's no less
inspiring or emotionally-potent. I admire Hoover's ability
to make light where there is darkness. Her humor and
sarcasm is what turns this dark, heartbreaking story into
one about hope and light. The ending is absolute
perfection, giving readers a sense that both characters are
recovering and that hope isn't just a far-fetched concept
for them anymore.
There is a letter at the end that is particularly touching.
I don't have words to describe the amount of emotion that
overflows it. For your chance to experience boundless love
in book form, I hope you give this book a try. It is books
like LOSING HOPE that reminds me of why I fell in love with
the written word in the first place.
