Kim Karr's CONNECTED is the story of a couple with an
undeniable attraction. Dahlia London's world collapsed
around her when her childhood sweetheart and fiancé Ben was
killed. Ben has been the true constant in Dahlia's life,
and she has no idea how she will face her future without
him. Over time, she begins to heal, and Dahlia gets an
assignment interviewing and photographing rock star River
Wilde. The two of them met one night five years ago. Their
connection then was magnetic, so Dahlia ran away that night
knowing that she could never betray Ben. River didn't know
who she was or how to find her, but he would never forget
her.
River is shocked to get a second chance with the girl who
inspired him to write his band's hit song "Once in a
Lifetime." Now that she is back in his life, he has no
intention of letting her go. River and Dahlia's connection
is still as strong as ever, and they soon begin a
relationship
together. Dahlia and River love each other, but it is
challenging to see forever when your life is as marked by
loss as Dahlia's has been. As their relationship develops,
it is a perfect blend of steamy sex and sweet romance.
Although the writing is occasionally uneven and repetitive,
the story is compelling. Because music is such an important
part of both River and Dahlia's lives, musical references
are infused into the story forming a soundtrack in the
background. Dahlia's struggle to love again after so much
loss is really the heart of the story. The majority of the
story is told from her perspective, so it is jarring when
the
story switches to River's perspective near the end.
A shocking twist in the story's epilogue will change
Dahlia's world forever and have readers clamoring for Torn,
the second book in the series. What a cliffhanger!
What if a ‘Once in a Lifetime' could happen twice?
Suffering from a past full of tragedy, Dahlia London's
soul has been left completely shattered. Happily ever after
is a far cry from reality in her world. But, when she is
reconnected with her past, the bonds that form are irrefutable.
When River Wilde, lead singer of The Wilde Ones, comes
back into Dahlia's life, the intensity that fires their
relationship combined with underlying feelings that have
never died lead her to believe she has met her soul mate.
Struggling with confusion as old connections fade and
new ones begin, Dahlia's grief begins to
lift––but guilt remains. River wants to be the
one to mend all that is torn within her.
But with a past that is never really gone, can their
future survive?
