THE BURN LIST tells of a female journalist who has gotten on the wrong side of the Mafiosi and whose husband and son have been killed in a car bomb. The grieving woman has been kept in a heavily drugged state for two years. At this point Annie's ex-SEAL brother John takes her out of the nursing home and to his yacht. He's hired Mistsie, a young lady with a medical degree to look after his sister Annie, who feels she has nothing left to live for.
THE BURN LIST is the list of criminals which John wishes to eliminate who were responsible for Annie's situation. The bad guys firebomb his gun store while he's on the yacht, because he refused to pay protection. We are told that that the Mob pay enough police to have got the investigation into Annie's family's deaths blocked. Before very long Annie is luring a lusting mobster from his bar to where she can drug him and leave him in a burning car. John has also got into a physical relationship with young Mitsie, without telling her of his plans.
Stan Stamper is writing a fantasy, an action tale, with big images such as explosions. I enjoyed the imagery of the yacht sailing blithely on the open sea with beautiful weather. Other than that, the tale takes on a "Death Wish" situation. THE BURN LIST has lots of action and we all love to see bad guys getting payback.
Award winning reporter Annie Wyatt was warned not to write
about the Miami mob, but she didn't listen. When they killed
her husband and son, she spiraled into a hellish abyss of
PTSD. Fortunately, her brother John Dane, a retired Navy
SEAL, was no stranger to PTSD, and he knew the perfect
antidote-survival and revenge. His plan to settle the score,
considered insane by most measures, involved his sister
Annie, and the newly found love of his life, Dr. Mitsy
Barlow. But could they survive the mob's attacks long enough
to succeed? The Burn List chronicles their combined efforts
and who would be the first, and last - to die.
