Vivi McFadden is in distress when she calls her best friend
and Sassy Belle, Blake O'Hara Heart, after Vivi believes
she's killed her boyfriend, Lewis Heart. They were in
a "meeting" at a sleazy motel in Tuscaloosa when Lewis
appeared to die on the bed right beneath her. Unable to
find Blake, Vivi calls Blake's husband and Lewis' brother,
Harry Heart. Both Blake and Harry are attorneys. After
meeting with them, all three go back to the motel, but
Lewis is missing. No one saw him leave, and no one seems to
know anything about where Lewis might be. Since Lewis is a
well-known personality, the "Voice of the Crimson Tide"
during football season, a press conference is called so the
family can make a statement.
Sonny Bartholomew, chief investigator for the local police
department, is on the case, which brings him back into
Blake's life. Blake and Sonny were on-again, off-again
sweethearts throughout high school. Something stirs inside
Blake as she locks eyes with Sonny, and she wonders if she
made the right decision 10 years ago, especially since her
marriage to Harry has been on the rocks lately. Can she
work side-by-side with Sonny in this investigation and keep
her feelings for him under wraps? A total mystery shrouds
Lewis' disappearance. Will they find him dead or alive? And
will Blake find romance once again with Harry, or will it
be Sonny?
THE SASSY BELLES is a delightful, fun story, seasoned with
just the right amount of suspense and romance. The
characters are quirky, but sincere, and find themselves
examining their own lives, remembering who they were, who
they've become and who they really want to be. The Sassy
Belles are a group of strong Southern women who can always
count on each other in a time of need. The plot is filled
with one crisis after another, but nothing that some good
Southern cooking and sweet tea can't fix. Beth
Albright fills the pages with Southern colloquialisms
that simply sing. Being a Southern belle myself, I laughed
my way through every phrase. THE SASSY BELLES is a
scandalous adventure you do not want to miss.
Meet the Sassy Belles.
They're strong as a mint julep, sweet as peach cobbler, and
no matter what, they stick together.
