Seven young people who repair cars share a very close relationship. Sally who came from a Utah commune is cool with polyandry so she doesn't mind six partners. But a Cuban boy, Alanso, who likes girls is confused to find himself also wanting Eli, nicknamed KING COBRA, whose family ran the youth shelter which attracted the young people. Experimenting in a park one night, Alanso concludes that he's actually bisexual.
The Hot Rods are a tight group and Alanso finds them supportive, but Eli who can't deny that the idea appeals, doesn't want to find out that he's gay. He also doesn't want to alienate anyone or rupture the links that bind them. The kids were troubled and have spent years settling to a stable life. Agreeing to see if he and Alanso are compatible, Eli nevertheless also brings a girl home with them from a bar one night, shattering Sally's dreams.
This is a short erotic novella, the latest in the Hot Rods series, which will appeal to those who've been following the team's adventures. Jayne Rylon has collaborated with Mari Carr on the two Compass ranch series, Compass Brothers and Compass Girls - the first of which is called Winter's Thaw.
