Micah Jones job as a Bounty Hunter is temporary, the change
of identity is a must if he wants to keep from being hunted
due to his former career. At the scene of his latest
assignment which is to bring in a suspected money
launderer, his
boss tells him there may be someone else involved and he
wants Micah to find out who it is.
Maggie O'Malley is
stunned to find herself about to be arrested, her only
crime was in helping her uncle get his night club out of
the red and into the black. As an accountant who
happens to be very organized, her books only reflect the
money the club makes legally, there is no way she would
have a second set of books.
After her arrest Maggie wants
her name cleared, why else would she turn to Micah, the man
who turned her over to the police. First she has to
convince him of her innocence and if he agrees to help her
then she'll have to ignore the attraction blazing between
them.
Micah's past is not conducive to forming any type of
relationships, as soon as the heat dies down, he'll be on
the move and back to his old job as a hired assassin.
That's what his mind says but his heart and the feelings
below the belt are sending an entirely different message.
They are not the only ones looking for the other book and
those who are have no intention of leaving any witnesses
behind. In between looking for answers to where the book
could be, Micah is forced to evaluate his life and his
ambitions. Being around the King family makes him wonder
if he and Maggie could makes things work, but first he
intends to find and destroy the person or persons who are
trying to kill Maggie.
Former assassins make for great
hero material in the hands of a writer who knows her stuff,
Ms. O'Clare is one of those authors. SLOW HEAT takes a set
of differing personalities and comes up with a sensual tale
of the power of love that heals and changes. The added
benefit of characters from the other Bounty Hunter
books is
a definite plus. Fans of this series will be thrilled with
the addition of SLOW HEAT.
SUMMARY
As a new trainee at the King family’s bounty-hunting agency,
Micah Jones is trying to keep his cool. But his latest
assignment—to bring in a night-club owner suspected of
money-laundering—heats up fast when he meets the “brains” of
the outfit: an irresistibly beautiful bookkeeper who’s
resisting arrest. So Micah takes her into custody—by taking
her into his powerful arms and not letting go… Held for questioning but released by police, Maggie O’Malley
is still a person of interest—to Micah. And Maggie is
interested, too—in his services. With his iron-hard muscles
and tough-guy exterior, the Harley-riding bounty hunter is
just the man Maggie needs to track down the real crook at
the club. A slow-burning attraction ignites a firestorm of
insatiable desire—until the secrets of Micah’s past are
exposed. Explosive passion now must prove stronger than a
history so terrifying it might haunt them forever…
