"Would you watch a horror movie if you knew you would end up being the star?"

Horror

What happens when you go to the movies only to end up being the star? Bad things happen if the movie is a horror film. That's exactly what happens in the aptly named, LATE NIGHT HORROR SHOW.

A group of friends decides to go to an old, run-down multi-plex in the bad part of town for a late-night festival of cheap horror movies. These films are filled with zombies, vampires and backwoods maniacs. But this is not your ordinary screening. The friends all split up and go to the movie they choose, where they find themselves transported into the film and head first into the gore-filled, deadly action with zombies roaming the countryside, a vampire's ominous, minion filled mansion and a chainsaw wielding maniac breathing down your neck.

A kind of homage to 80s horror flicks, Smith hits on some of the most popular tropes in the industry. With one character left in the real world to face the scary Dr. Ominous, who has organized this whole fiasco, we get to understand the how's and why's of the story. Smith is able to put his own flair and perspective to a sometimes over-used theme and make it fun and fresh. There are plenty of bloody scenes to appease the gore lover, and a little humor injected to keep our attention. LATE NIGHT HORROR SHOW is a delightful and entertaining albeit horrific read for the horror fans.

SUMMARY

When the movie starts, the horror becomes real. It was a run-down old multi-plex in a seedy part of town. But it had a special late-night festival of the cheap horror movies one group of friends loved, movies filled with zombies, vampires and backwoods maniacs. How could they know it was a very special screening indeed? After the friends split up and their chosen movies began, they found themselves transported out of the life they knew and into the blood-drenched worlds of the films. Worlds where the living dead roam the countryside, the decrepit mansion of a vampire and his minions dominates the night sky, and the shrill scream of a buzz saw is always right behind you.
