Six Dukes set London abuzz with all the stories of the night
they celebrated a marriage that never took place. The
Prince Regent has commanded that all of them rusticate and
make amends.
Lady Verity Fiztgerald awakes to find Rory Lennox in her
bed. Rory is the Duke of Abshire and a former friend of her
brother, the Duke of Candover. Some time in the past, Rory
and Candover had a falling out and they have been
archenemies ever since.
Rory is prepared to do the right thing but Verity is
resistant to the command to marry. Even though, she has
always been slightly in love with him, she isn't about to be
forced into an unwanted marriage. Besides, Verity has some
secrets she is keeping. She doesn't want to be put in a
position where she has to expose them.
Ms. Nash has done a fabulous job with THE DUKE DIARIES.
Her writing has always been polished and her stories
excellent but I really enjoyed this one.
Rory is a charming scapegrace who hides his sorrows and
regrets behind a charming manner. Verity is a young woman
with determination and the means to live her life as she
pleases. It was entertaining to see the two of them try to
outwit each other and then negotiate the inevitable
surrender.
Caught in bed with his archenemy’s still-innocent sister the morning after the most outrageous bachelor party of the century, Rory Lennox, the Duke of Abshire, knows his goose is cooked. To make amends he enters into an engagement with her to hold society at bay, but tangles with his growing attraction for this fearless, plucky lady. Verity Fitzroy is one of five plain sisters of the premier duke, Candover. And while she’s always been fascinated by Abshire, she has far too much pride to marry a gentleman against his will. She insists that she will break off the engagement at the end of the season, even if it renders her unmarriagable. But when a series of mysterious accidents takes place, Abshire and Verity must each make peace with the past to discover a passionate love that will transform them forever.
