Georgia makes the mistake of her life by proposing to her
boyfriend live on a St. Valentine's Day radio show in
London. If he accepts the wedding will be financed by the
show - and she never expects that he'll decline. Sadder and
wiser, she flees the scene and tries to get on with her
life. But she's still under contract to the show - and its
attractive manager.
Zander, the radio station manager, runs marathons for a
sense of challenge in his quiet life. He comes up with a
way for the show to get value and Georgia to save face.
For the next year, the practical plant expert at Kew
Gardens will be financed and interviewed as she takes
courses and tries adventures and learns to rebuild her life
without her boyfriend. Zander has luxury cars and a large
home in Hampstead Heath, but agrees to accompany Georgia on
her evening courses after their work.
The cookery course is pretentious and fawning, so when
Georgia leaves early Zander takes her to help in a busy
restaurant kitchen instead, and a sense of trust begins to
build between them. The contrast between Georgia's fern-
filled apartment and Zander's unlived-in house and garden
is what makes the executive really think differently about
the girl, and when she swaps a break in Ibiza for a balloon
flight in Cappadocia, Turkey, over an ancient
civilisation's city, Zander finds himself falling for her.
But Georgia has no intention of gaining another boyfriend.
She's made that mistake already!
A fun tale, HOW TO GET OVER YOUR EX reflects on the dream
sold to us that our first love must be the right one and
what happens when one half of a relationship is not
inclined to commit. At least Georgia found out before
wasting several years waiting for a man to propose. She
would not have got out and tried so many great activities
if she and a dutiful boyfriend were sitting in saving up
for a wedding, so the year of excitement has a serious
message that we don't know what we really want until we
find it.
Being rejected is one thing. Being rejected live on radio
takes it to a whole new level!
After her on-air proposal is turned down by her
commitment-phobe boyfriend, Georgia Stone must learn to
survive singledom. Unfortunately, thanks to a clause in her
contract, she has to do it under the watchful gaze of
brooding radio producer Zander Rush.
And so begins the Year of Georgia! Lurching from salsa
classes to spy school, Georgia discovers a taste for
adventure. Her biggest thrill so far? Flirting with
danger—aka the enigmatic Zander. But admitting she's ready
for more than just a fling ? Definitely Georgia's scariest
challenge yet!
