the right areas, Callahan takes readers back to 1331 AD in
Transylvania where a warlord named Vladimir Barbu hopes to
be the new ruler. However, he requires one last thing in
order to have the crown all to himself -- the high
priestess, Afina Lazar.
In a desperate attempt to find the missing high priestess,
Barbu enlists elite assassin, Xavian Ramir to retrieve her
but the spirited priestess will not go down without a
fight. The life of her child and her own depends on how
well she is able to protect the amulet she possesses.
KNIGHT AWAKENED is truly like stepping into a different
world. With vivid descriptions and dramatic plot twists, it
is sure to get a rise out of its readers. While very
detailed in its backstory and introduction of new
characters, the slower pacing definitely allowed the time
to really understand the world that Callahan has created.
The romance between Afina and Ramir progressed at a steady
pace, first involving feelings of distrust and fear then
moving on to feelings of loyalty and love. Though it is the
worldbuilding and Callahan's vivid imagination that has me
seeing stars -- she really packs a punch in KNIGHT AWAKENED.
If the first book is any indication of the rest of the
series, then the Circle of Seven, will be a series to
watch
out for!
