Romance Historical

Lady Harriet Devere is not ready to give up mourning her brother and celebrate Christmas. However, her grandfather, the Duke of Charlbury, depends on her to be his hostess. Just before her trip to the family seat, two gentlemen approach her and ask her to determine whether one of the guests is responsible for her brother's death.

Lord Nick Devere used Harry as a go-between, using her to pass on messages to the government as he spied in Europe. Nothing can defeat grief better than a purpose. Her one purpose is to expose her brother's killer.

Julian Forsythe, the Earl of Marbury, has come to Charlbury Hall to meet a contact and meet his friend's sister, Lady Harriet. He must find out what she knows. What he doesn't expect is the attraction he feels for her.

Julian and Harry will be at cross purposes for much of the story but the heat when the finally acknowledge their attraction is formidable. Julian will be attacked by the man he came to meet and be saved by Harriet. Secrets will be exposed between the two and promises made.

Ms. Feather is a long time favorite of mine. This book is a charming story of grief being overcome by love and trust. Julian and Harriet will face the past that put them at odds. If they don't, their new love with not survive. A very nice addition to the holiday season that approaches. Snuggle under the covers and enjoy!

SUMMARY

A Christmas house party, a sexy lady spy, and an enigmatic earl spell holiday magic. Join New York Times bestselling author Jane Feather in this seductive story of spy and counterspy dueling beneath the mistletoe.

While others dance and flirt, Lady Harriet Devere has a secret life, assisting her older brother Nick with his duties as a British spy. When Nick is killed, however, Harriet assumes that her work passing coded messages to the Ministry of War will cease. Instead, she is charged with a vitally important mission: spend Christmas determining if Julius Forsythe, Earl of Marbury, is a double agent for the French.

Harriet expects danger, just not to her heart. . . . As the hostess of a holiday house party, she is perfectly placed to closely observe her noble guest—his elegant clothes, his penetrating dark eyes, his virile athletic build. But when passion flames between them, Harriet realizes that only a holiday miracle will allow her to find true love—in the arms of this spy who has come for Christmas.
