When an old hermit approaches her house covered in blood and stumbling, Candy first thinks he has been attacked. When he tells her of finding a dead body, Candy runs to notify the police.
When the hermit disappears and there is no body to be found, Candy returns to her job of reporter for the local paper. The annual Moose Festival has brought an ice sculpting competition to town. There are a lot of sculptors to interview and the village is swamped with visitors.
When the body is found three days later, Candy will need all her wits to juggle the demands of her job and the investigation into the disappearance of the body. Not to mention the white moose that keeps showing up to lead her around.
The third book in a well-written series, the appearance of a white moose and the big hints about a conspiracy will keep the reader enthralled. While TOWN IN A WILD MOOSE CHASE was complete, the ending leaves the reader waiting for the next in the series. The descriptions of the cold winters in Maine will make the readers grateful that they aren't freezing along with the characters.
