A ROGUE BY ANY OTHER NAME is the first in a new series by
Sarah MacLean. If this is only the beginning then we are in
for quite a ride. I simply adored all the men of The Fallen
Angel and cannot wait for the rest of their stories. I
absolutely love the fact that MacLean keeps her characters
going. Book after book I have met new characters and have
looked forward to their stories. MacLean is one author who
has not let me down. I have waited for a story about Leighton's ex-bride and A
ROGUE BY ANY OTHER NAME gave me the story. Here we are
presented with Lady Penelope Marbury as we have never seen
her. Our first glimpse of Penelope came in Eleven Scandals
to Start to Win a Duke's Heart and we learned that this was
a lady of compassion and a whole lot of heart. What we did
not know was just how deep Penelope was and how desperately
she needed the marriage. Her heartfelt 'no' has led to her
spinsterhood and a sense of hopelessness from her family. The past eight years have given Penelope a sense of
desperation and the fear of never finding adventure. It
seems that everyone is out for what goods she can bring them
and no man has taken an interest in Penelope for herself.
Until Michael.... The Marquess of Bourne is not the man he once was. The loss
of his parents at a young age swept away his boyhood dreams.
Then one game of vingt-et-un destroyed his inheritance and
what was left of his soul. Bourne has risen up out of the
deep with a vow of vengeance and revenge on the one man who
destroyed everything he was, Langford. When a chance to
regain his lands arises, Bourne knows that he will do
anything, even kidnap and marry his childhood friend, to
regain what he once lost. Will he be able to hold on to his
new identity as Bourne or will Penelope show him how to be
Michael once again? I simply cannot say enough about Sarah MacLean. Her writing
has grown, her characters have come to life off the pages,
and she just keeps getting better and better. A ROGUE BY ANY
OTHER NAME swept me away into the gaming hells of London and
captured my imagination from page one. The plot kept moving,
there was never a moment in this book when I said get on
with it. Instead I found myself flying through the pages
virtually hanging on every word. I really loved the letters
at the beginning of each chapter. They were enchanting and
gave me a glimpse into the characters' lives before the
tragedy. Those simple letters completely gave me that
something extra, a deeper connection to the characters
that would have been missing without them. Romance readers
if you have not picked up a MacLean you are missing out
immensely. Go forth and buy them!!
SUMMARY
What a scoundrel wants, a scoundrel gets . . . A decade ago, the Marquess of Bourne was cast from society
with nothing but his title. Now a partner in London's most
exclusive gaming hell, the cold, ruthless Bourne will do
whatever it takes to regain his inheritance—including
marrying perfect, proper Lady Penelope Marbury. A broken engagement and years of disappointing courtships
have left Penelope with little interest in a quiet,
comfortable marriage, and a longing for something more. How
lucky that her new husband has access to such unexplored
pleasures. Bourne may be a prince of London's underworld, but he vows
to keep Penelope untouched by its wickedness—a
challenge indeed as the lady discovers her own
