SUNRISE WITH A NOTORIOUS LORD is the fourth book of the
Lords of Vice series. Having read this series from the
beginning I find that each story is unique and holds is own
place in my heart. Hawkins has created a regency world full
of mischief, mayhem, and romance that any reader will fall
in love with. I have been enchanted by Vane throughout this
series. His fun-loving character has had his serious
moments, but is always willing to bet against all odds. As
determined as he is not to marry, in this story we see that
deep down Vane has always held out for that special woman.
Through all his mistresses there has come a point when the
relationship must end; sooner rather than later is best in
Vane's opinion. As our hero in this story Vane is
surprisingly gallant and romantic in his pursuit of Isabel.
Isabel is not the quiet on the shelf sister that she would
have everyone believe. It was truly rewarding to watch her
come out of her box and turn into a woman. During the course
of this book we watch Isabel go from having no friends to
beginning relationships with people that are not servants.
Isabel reminds me of the ugly duckling with her
transformation into society. As we all know it takes a
strong woman to reel in an unlikely groom...even if she
doesn't want one.
Lord Vanewright, or Vane as he is known, has struggled with
thwarting his mother's matchmaking skills for two seasons.
Now he has been threatened with poverty if he does not
comply, marry, and produce an heir. When his fellow Lords of
Vice begin betting on his success Vane knows that he must
fight for his right to remain a bachelor. One woman
seems to be challenging his resolve. Who would have thought
that any lady would thieve a thief for him is outrageous.
But that is exactly what she did. And just like that Miss
Isabel Thorne captured his attention unlike any other woman
ever had. Now he just had to figure out a way to have her
without having to have her.
When Isabel was invited to London by the Marchioness of
Netherley she was not quite sure the woman's reasoning was
sound. Introducing her sister Delia and herself to society
was one thing, but attempting to lure the woman's son into
marrying her sister was quite an undertaking that Isabel did
not think would work. Most especially when she learns that
Lord Vanewright is so much more than she imagined he would
be. His every romantic gesture has left her at a loss. How
can she betray her supporter and her sister? More
importantly can she betray herself?
Simply spectacular from front to back! The romantic in me
loved all the little touches that made Vane into a hero.
Hawkins has made a man out of this philandering boy. SUNRISE
WITH A NOTORIOUS LORD is truly a story that captures the
imagination and the heart.
FOREVER THE BACHELOR
Christopher Courtland, Earl of Vanewright—known around
London as “Vane”—is the very picture of a rich, handsome
ladies’ man. Why shackle himself to just one lady when
he’s
free to sample them all? In spite of his own mother’s
attempts at matchmaking, Vane has sworn to stay single.
Until he has a chance run-in with Miss Isabel Thorne…
NEVER IN LOVE—UNTIL NOW…
A modest and refined beauty, Isabel is a lot more brazen
than she appears. When a pickpocket tries to make away
with
Vane’s bejeweled snuffbox, Isabel attempts to thwart his
escape…and manages to steal Vane’s heart. But the harder
he
tries to seduce the sharp-tongued, strong-willed Isabel,
the
more she resists. Now it’s up to this tried-and-true
bachelor to find a new way to play the game…or risk
losing
the one woman who’s ever captured his heart.
