Inspirational Historical

Emily Foster has already decided she is not going to stay in Rochester, Wisconsin, very long. She is here just to "flip" this house and be on her way to California. She is not going to make any friends either. She's been here before, a long time ago when she came with Cara, her best friend. This house belonged to Cara's grandmother, who left it to Cara and Emily bought it. It's a part of her plan to run away from life.

Built in the 1800s, the house is in need of some renovations. Emily hires contractor Jake Braden to knock down some walls and refurbish a few things so she can get it on the market. As she and Jake are exploring the structure of the house, they discover some hidden doors and rooms and several treasures in the attic. People say the house is haunted, but Emily hasn't seen or heard any ghosts. They do find evidence it may have been a part of the Underground Railroad.

Part of that evidence is a box of letters, dating back to 1852, when the original owner's daughter wrote to her beloved about the danger of moving people to safety. Hannah Shaw and Liam Keegan yearned to be married, but the time was not right in light of all that was happening. The letters prompt Emily to research the history of the house and the families who lived there. Will her findings change Emily's mind about staying?

Just as this house harbors many secrets, Emily too harbors secrets. That's why she is running away from life, but Jake is determined to tear down more than just physical walls in this house. He wants to tear down the wall that Emily has built to punish herself for the accident that changed several lives forever.

TOMORROW'S SUN is the beginning of a new series by Becky Melby. It is wonderfully written with flashbacks of the past, a little mystery and a splash of romance. The story has many wonderful inspirational messages as Emily learns that God heals and forgives, and she needs to accept that today and not dwell on what tomorrow may bring. This was a great read; I'm sure you will enjoy it.

SUMMARY

Emily Foster won’t allow herself to move on until she earns enough money to make restitution for the accident that stole a young girl’s dreams. Flipping houses sounds like the fast track to her goal, but when her first project turns out to be a stop on the Underground Railroad, Emily finds herself drawn to, but at odds with, the contractor she hires. Jake Braden needs to focus on gaining guardianship of his late sister’s twins, but the story of lost love uncovered in Emily’s house sets the stage for what might become his own lost love.
