Thrillers are 'hit and miss' for me, mainly because I find that few authors are truly adept at capturing my attention from the very first sentence of the very first chapter.
Fortunately, THE BURNING EDGE is a definite 'hit'. As the story line opens, we are immediately thrown into a horrific gunfight, where our main character Lisa finds herself one of the only witnesses. The description of the entire episode is absolutely riveting, right down to the comment about Lisa touching a victim's face. I could easily see it in my mind's eye, all the while feeling completely engrossed and frightened at the same time. This sets the tone for the entire book - and when you throw in an appearance of the lead detective, who finds himself having to deal with his very own lot of very bad news. Within THE BURNING EDGE, you have a riveting thriller that kept me saying 'just one more 'chapter' until I had not chapters left.
Mofina is clearly a pro, having written his share of thrillers and he knows how to keep the pace moving along at all times which is a huge plus in my opinion. THE BURNING EDGE is a non-stop ride that will keep the pages turning. I could not find one downside to this wonderful novel.
